how was my weekend?

After the weekend of...I don’t even know what to call it, I have a few minutes to sit down and write this. I just spent two days with Steph running between different clubs, catching buses, waiting twenty minutes for trains, and at times fearing for my well-being (but what else can you do in Chicago at 1:30 in the morning?). It was the absolute best two days of my life.

We saw the Spitalfield reunion show on Friday and it was absolute madness. The crowd was going insane and the band couldn’t have looked any happier. The Graduate opened up the night, and they’re one of mine and Steph’s FAVORITE bands. We luckily picked up their new cd four days before it came out. We had to. Totally worth it, buy it.

Saturday was I AM Fest. That entire journey started back in May. I approached a friend of mine to be on SLY and he said his next show was this big fest in August. He put me in contact with the organizer of the entire thing and a few weeks later Steph and I met Brian Bender. He gave us a tour of Elbo Room, during which I was in total awe. The upstairs office area is covered in show posters which I just kept staring at. It’s a 21+ place and there I was, 18 at the time, walking around the basement area where Lucky Boys Confusion got their start when they were my age.

So eventually we had eight of the ten bands playing I AM Fest on our show, which were easily two of the best shows we’ve ever had. Everyone that we had come (and call) in were the nicest people I’ve ever met. They were all passionate about what I AM Fest stood for and being a part of it. They all acted like they’d known each other for years.

In the beginning of it, Steph and I both thought I AM Fest was pretty cool, but after meeting everyone, our attitude for it almost went through the roof. We kept telling each other and anyone that asked that we were way excited for it.

So the day finally came and I just about lost it. It was my first time being at House of Blues and I thought it was beautiful. We were sitting near the back bar before the show started and a bunch of videos of the bands were being shown. We were told that video from the Mason’s Case acoustic performance we had in the studio was in the mix and took video and pictures of it when we saw it. The whole night we had the bands coming up and saying hi to us and meeting appreciative friends and girlfriend. There was a moment early on in the day that we had quite a few people around us and I was just looking around thinking “This is the best day of my life. This is everything I’ve ever wanted.”

After that we headed to Elbo Room for the after party. We were talking to someone from one of the bands and for whatever reason I showed him my X’d hands. He asked how old I was, I told him 19, and went on to talk about how when his band started he was 18 and they were play bars and he’d get escorted out after they performed. (Full circle?)

I’m just a kid that struck it rich in the luck department and gets to follow her dreams. And it’s absolutely amazing.

Thanks are in order for: Steph, Brian Bender, Ryan Powers, Matt Alfano and Mason’s Case, Bambi Raptor, Laser Love & the Heated Heat, Mark Rose, The Flavor Savers, Treaty of Paris, Digital Mindy, Kelsey Montanez, Jack In Space, and everyone else that we’ve had on the show, anyone that’s ever tuned in, told a friend about us, helped us promote, etc.

AWESOME VIDEOSSS

haha this is sweet! I wanna see him in concert!

Apparently, she wanted to make the hallway appear that it had snow in it, so she decided to use a fire extinguisher (this is something that her dad has successfully done in the past). Instead of there just being a "little poof", the entire hallway filled with chemicals that caused the fire alarm to go off in the middle of the night during finals week.

THIS IS AWESOME
CINNAMON TWISTS!!!

OKay youd think I was a star wars Freak...but instead they are the videos that are the most hilarious! GOt to watch both 1 and 2 its awesome!
