end of an era

first off, i'd like to sincerly thank every single person that's made this show possible. in the almost 15 months the show was around, we had just under 70 guests on. i think that's pretty amazing for just being a college show. we got the chance to meet so many people and do a lot of cool things. it's seriously been a dream come true.
also, big congrats to Steph for graduating! live it up in the real world missy!!
first, stephen from last avenue called in. remember them? good sh*t. they recently announced the addition of two new members! alex coronado will be on guitar and michael louis vinci is on vocals. they'll be doing some fun things over the summer, so keep your eyes and ears open for that!
we closed out our run with nick and aaron from the fireship. they had their final show as a band last night and it was amazing. we partied cinco de mayo style with jarritos, taco dip, and juice. we taught nick a new hand motion and dropped some f-bombs.

a "going out with a bang" playlist:
3OH!3 - House Party
Cobra Starship - Hollaback Boy
The Box Social - KCMO
Motion City Soundtrack - L.G. Fuad

if you haven't seen, you can download almost every single interview we've done, for absolutely 100% free right here

please give LMC Radio a listen! they're super solid and have a great passion for music. they've even been known to play some songs from republic of lights, hemmingbirds, and the fireship! they're on every sunday out of UIC from 4 to 6. also check out Diamonds and Pearls Radio who are on from 2 to 4 every thursday.
steph and i are anything but done from this whole "music scene" thing. we teamed up with stories from a scene and will be bringing you videos, reviews, and up-to-date news on all things happening in local music! we'll also be working with jesse of the aesthetic/genius behind midcoast audio to bring you podcasts!! hopefully that will be going by the beginning of summer.

thank you again, a million times over. this had been the best time of my life.

Disorderly Conduct indeed

Happy Day After Easter! Where the breakfast of choice is microwaved peeps. (seriously, don't knock it until you try it.)
We kicked off last week's show with Matt Ayo of Stay Golden calling in. His band opened up for Medina Lake on Saturday at Metro! If you know what's what, you know Matt Leone of Medina Lake experienced some misfortune (i'd rather say lots of bad words but i'm refraining) last year and this was his first show in several months. It's great to have him back!
Living Out Loud was up next, who are now our youngest guests to date! They have awesome taste in television (Spongebob and Adventure Time) and play a mean Train cover.
Disorderly Conduct was after them. What you can expect from a bunch of 17 year old boys happened. They were quite the bunch and left us with no dull moments. You can watch part of it here:
These two groups of munchins played at Durty Nellie's in Palatine on Saturday also. from the texts Steph sent me, it was a good time.

songs:
Lucas Carpenter - Frowny Face Away Message
The Aesthetic - Alone Tonight
June - I'd Lose Myself
This Is Me Smiling - The Movies
Stay Golden - Tip Top
Stay Golden - Make Believe
The Graduate - Interlude
Jeremiah Higgins - Lean
Living Out Loud - Animal
Jack's Mannequin - La La Lie
Punchline - Whatever I Want, Whenever I Want
Lorene Drive - A Song In the Key of Sex
The Fireship - Paper Tigers
Disorderly Conduct - Let's Make a Memory
Treaty of Paris - Colleen

we're ticking down. we only have two shows left. this week I Can Hear Myself Levitate will be in the studio to amuse and entertain and play songs for us.
next week The Fireship is back in for round three. please please please don't miss it. we have a few things planned. it'll be a great time.

"on drugs equals eggs"

it. was. a. hot. one. literally. like, the studio was scorching. michael j. fann was doing his best to keep us all cool. but you know, sometimes it's hard when there are so many hot people in a small, confined area.
ryan and tom from empires (yeah, that empires.) joined us for the first hour. tom got deep about their new record, ryan remembered his good ol' talk show days.
last we all knew, they were still pushing to be the first unsigned band to grace the cover of rolling stone. keep your peepers open for the results from the second round of voting to see if they made it through!
check them out next month at beat kitchen as well
hour two: ryan powers (comeback special!), mason's case (third comeback special!), and model stranger (SLY debut!) destroyed. in a good way. and not literally. we got creepy with our questions and sweated together. model stranger also mentioned their signing they were going to have at tower records.
but for real, they played a show last night at beat kitchen. it was definitely something special.

the beautiful music we played:
Cobalt & the Hired Guns - Of Summer
Stay Golden - Make Believe
The Shams Band - Working Man
Empires - Voodooized
Empires - Hello Lover
Empires - Bang
The Heyday - Good Old Days
Mark Rose - Everything
Ryan Powers - Be My Baby
Model Stranger - Dreams and Bones
Mason's Case - Knots
The Format - She Doesn't Get It

after those three stupendious bands played, Mark Rose, Lucas Carpenter and Prom Band played a very delightful show.
Mark played this sweet, awesome song. i've never heard it before! (sarcasm)

plan of attack for tonight: ha ha tonka at jbtv tonight

SLY radio is nearing the end. we know, we know...you're probably screaming and crying and ready to smash your computer. you probably are getting ready to do this:

but wait! don't! we have good news!! first, we really like huey lewis and the news. second, we returned your video tapes for you. third, we got you that stray cat you asked for. fourth, we have some exciting stuff planned for this last month!

next week we have a lot of fantastic men coming in to spend time with us.
we may have an extra super special guest the first hour (don't quote me on that) but we are for sure having Ryan Powers, Matt of Mason's Case, and Model Stranger in!
we're currently working on a line up for the 21st
the 28th is when I Can Hear Myself Levitate is coming in!
and because we like to have a good time, our super ultra last show happens to coincide with The Fireship's final show!
what? the fireship isn't going to be a band anymore!?no, where the f*** have you been the last month!? no, but really. it's going to be extra super special and a very good time. we love those guys and couldn't be happier to close out our run with them!

Hello. How are you? It's been awhile. We hope everything has been going very well with you. We had a break but came back this week with a very large bang. New BFFs Archie and Adam from Archie Powell & the Exports graciously joined us. We talked about how eating too many soy beans screws with your estrogen (it's true, ask Steph.) and Cash Cab. "Why did you talk about Cash Cab?" you may by asking us. Well, dear friend, Archie, Adam, and their friend were on it!
After they played us two rousing tunes, Republic of Lights made a very strong comeback. Fights were had about raccoon face. They talked about their BFF. They played some neat songs. Their cd is still (and probably always will be) up for download fo' free HERE.

lovely songs we played:The Sowing Season - Homecoming
Archie Powell & the Exports - Skip Work

All these wonderful gents and lady played a show on Friday together! From the texts Steph sent me, it was a rip-snortin' good time! She said Bob Morris was there!
I went to The Frantic's EP release show last night with The Fold, The Downtown Struts, and another band I'm sure was fantastic but unfortunately missed their set because I was in transit. Sad face. It was a party.
